Charles Godue

In February 2003, Doctor Charles Godue was appointed chief of The Health Human Resources Unit for the Pan-American Health Organization. He has been professionally linked to this Institution since 1991. Godue was born in Granby city, Québec (Canada), and he obtained his medical degree in Sherbrooke University in 1976. Two years later, Dr. Godue traveled to Guatemala to work as voluntary doctor in a multidisciplinary team in a Mayan rural community. There he offered services of health primary attention, he trainned workers of community health and he mobilized communities for defending their social and economic rights.
To his return to Canada in 1981, Dr. Godue persisted in his determination of working in the field of public health, carrying out a specialization trainning in community medicine in Montreal General Hospital and obtaining a master degree in Sciences in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department in  McGill University, in Montreal. In 1989 he got the position of assisting director of the Community Health Department of East Montreal.

At present, Dr. Charles Godue is coordinating all Pan-American level  actions of Health Human Resources within PHO.
