Requirements
Graduate of any university career of exact, natural or engineering sciences . Elementary knowledge of Informatics and Molecular Biology.
Ground
Bioinformatics is an emergent science still developing that unites knowledge of diverse disciplines as molecular biology, engineering informatics, computer science and mathematics. It has arisen starting from the necessity of analyzing great quantity of biological data that has been accumulating as a result of the vertiginous development, since the end of 1980's until the present time, of sequence technologies, determination of bio-molecules structures, microarrangements, etc. Bioinformatics contains useful tools for illness understanding, diagnostic and even therapy at molecular level. In this sense the cultural formation of professionals linked in a way or another to the medical sciences and, in general to life sciences will have a direct and outstanding repercussion in the development of these disciplines in Cuba.
