Dr Peter Murray will attend to Health Informatics

Dr. Peter Murray, Vicepresident for Working Groups and Special Interest Groups of the International Association of Medical Informatics (IMIA) for the Nurse specialists Group and UK representative in IMIA
and the UK representative in IMIA, will attend
Health Informatics 2007.

Peter has a PhD in nursing informatics and educational technology from The Open University in the UK, works part-time as a Founding Fellow of the Centre for Health Informatics Research and Development (CHIRAD -www.chirad.org) in the UK and is an Honorary Research Fellow in Health

Informatics at The University of Winchester, UK. He teaches on the Winchester MSc in Health Informatics, and is currently helping teach the course as a joint venture at Walter Sisulu University, Umtata, South Africa
(www.wsu.ac.za).

He attended and spoke at the Informatica conferences in Cuba in 2003 and 2007, and looks forward to meeting many colleagues again. His main interests at present are e-learning, the use of Wedb 2.0 applications for education, and libre/free and open source software in health informatics. He is past
Chair of the IMIA Open Source Nursing Imformatics Working Group (OSNI -
www.osni.info) and co-chair of the newly-formed EFMI Libre/free and Open
Source Working Group (www.efmi.org).

He hopes to speak about the use of blogs for virtual conference participation and about the role of IMIA Working Groups and the IMIA Strategic Plan.
